The Lord is a Warrior!
In addition to Beautiful Savior;
And Majestic Redeemer!
The Creator and Sustainer of all things;
Eternal Lord of Lords and King of Kings!
Jesus is also, “The Judge,” of all that He has made!
His judgments are displayed against, “Sin;”
Both intentional and unintentional.
His response is not casual.
It couldn’t be more grievous to Him.
He addressed it completely.
At tremendous personal cost!
He couldn’t be more invested.
From the beginning of time,
He has been involved in judgment.
Every judgment from God,
That mankind has faced.
He exiled Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden,
He unleashed the flood in Noah’s day.
He rained fire on Sodom and Gomorrah,
He confused the languages at the Tower of Babel;
He scattered mankind across the globe.
He was there for the ten plagues in Egypt.
He judged David and all of the kings of Israel.
He brought war and exile upon the children of Israel.
He allowed them to be cast into foreign lands.
And then restored them in a single day as promised.
And He will also return to be the final judge of all mankind.
YES, His Love Overcomes.
And Outshines ALL of these things!
Even as He surrendered himself to the cross.
To fulfill all the demands of the justice He created!
He also arose in Absolute Triumph!
To come again and Judge both the living and the dead.
Have you made peace with the Warrior Jesus?
He is offering it to you, and his terms are very reasonable!
But you say stop, stop, STOP!
I don't like this conversation!
My Jesus isn’t like that! He is kind and gentle!
And loving! Most of all; He Is Loving!
A bruised reed He will protect!
And a smoldering candlewick, He will revive!
He encourages and accepts everyone!
Just come, He says! Come unto Me!
And I will give you rest!
Anyone who calls on His name shall be saved!
He invites ALL to follow.
Yes… That’s right.
Our Warrior King calls all to follow Him;
To join Him in the struggle against sin!
To become equipped for victory!
Even against our confusion.
And the religiosity we cherish more than Him.
Religiosity... You say?
Yes, idolatrous religiosity like...
Eve’s commitment to false wisdom.
As she listened to the serpent.
And King Saul’s irreverence for order.
As he offered a more convenient sacrifice.
And High Priest Caiaphas' tyrannical prejudice.
As he misapplied revelation to advance his power.
And Saul who became the Apostle Paul’s murderous zeal and spiritual pride.
And even the lust for social status that contaminated Ananias and Sapphira's offering.
Like each of them, we are also being tempted.
But we are also called! Called to battle!
To engage in a battle with the sin within.
As well as without.
Are you engaged? Or have you chosen to surrender? And if you have surrendered…
Who have you surrendered too?
Yes... Jesus’ terms are exceedingly reasonable!
And eternally binding.
And He is truly a Warrior!
Who promises to empower us!
As we follow HIM!
